FAQ-Motor Vehicle Accident

What should I do if I was just involved in an accident?

Answer: If you were involved in an accident, you should do the following:

Report the accident immediately. If it is a car accident, call the police. If it is an accident in a place of business, such as a store or warehouse, contact the manager or supervisor on duty. Make sure to get their full name and contact information.
Seek medical treatment. Do not try to diagnose your own injuries or postpone seeing a doctor. Call an ambulance or have a friend or relative take you to an emergency room at a nearby hospital.
Identify possible witnesses. Get the names and contact information of all persons at the scene of the accident who may have witnessed what happened.
Take photographs. Document your injuries, damage to our property, and the scene of the accident even if someone else (i.e., police, fire investigators, business or store owner, etc.) is already taking photographs.
