Business Formation FAQ

I am starting a new business. What can I do to protect my interests?

Answer: In addition to deciding what business entity (sole proprietorship, corporation, partnership, LLC, etc.) is right for you, there are two important things you should take into account for your new business: (1) government compliance and (2) record-keeping. Depending on what business entity you chose, you may have to register with the State or file a DBA with the county where your business is located. Most locations require business licenses as well, and if you have employees, there are additional filings, taxes, and obligations to keep track of. Make sure you are up-to-date and compliant with all the requirements for doing business in your area.
